On 05 July 2020, in honour of Guru Purnima, Dr Kausthub Desikachar organized a Global Prayer initiative to honour the tradition of Teachers. People from all over the world participated in this special event that commemorates Vedavyāsa's birthday.

This year was very special as this auspicious day coincided with a lunar eclipse and also the birthday of Dr. Kausthub Desikachar, making it even more special.
